Joint pain, inflammation, …Is painful!   Here recently I thought I had just a jammed thumb. Except it wasn’t getting better and then the other hand started becoming painful and stiff.   And then I knew….

I had hard spots of inflammation going on!   See at one time I suffered from extremely painful tendonitis and with the help of a great Chiropractor ( and a painful process we call Chinese torture)  who had to re-stretch my tendons in my arms and hands because they had all bunched up.  I also had nodes of hard inflammation pockets that had to be broken up and flushed out.  Really painful but I have not had a issue for a long time with preventive care and some great Young Living supplements like Agileease and Sulfurzyme .

So, after I   started to really get in a press around I found it!  Boy did I find it!  The painful crackley node!  I know I have to go through the pain and do a hard deep tissue massage, Ice and LOTS of WATER to get it worked out.  I will also be making some chiro appointments before or if it gets worse.

But a couple of days ago, I found this fantastic recipe from Andrea Butje founder of Aromahead Institute for joint pain and inflammation and have been using it twice aday, along with some deep tissue work and Ice.  I have noticed already more movement, inflammation is breaking up some  other hand is not a stiff.   There are other essential oil recipes for   quick relief that work fantastic.  But, I am trying to do a little preventive therapy right now.  Plus ease some pain and get some mobility back.

  • I really like this recipe because I feel it is great for the long term use and will help aid in the actual underlying problem like circulation inflammation and other root cause issues.  I also like the added benefits that copiaba gave this recipe and I feel it was exactly what makes this a powerful blend

Juniper really is an exceptional essential oil for joint pain.

It’s wonderful for calming swelling in joints, muscles, limbs, and connective tissues. It also brings a sensation of warmth and circulation to the area where it’s applied. I especially like to use it in gels for achy knees and fingers.

Juniper Joint Gel

  • 1 oz (28 g) aloe vera gel (Aloe barbadensis)
  • 6 drops Juniper (Juniperus communis)
  • 4 drops German Chamomile (Matricaria recutita)
  • 4 drops Palmarosa (Cymbopogon martinii motia)
  • 4 drops Lemon (Citrus limon)
  • 2 drops Copiaba (copaifera reticulata)

Make the blend in a 1 oz (30 ml) glass bottle. Pour the aloe vera gel into the bottle and add the essential oils.

Shake the blend gently before each use to help distribute the essential oils through the aloe.  I also like to keep it in the fridge so it’s nice and cold.  I also made myself a roller bottle to take along with me because I’m on the go a lot and it’s just nice to have it with me in this little portable bottle.  For the roller recipe you can all the oil drops in half.

Along with using Juniper essential oil for joint pain, this blend includes German Chamomile (a blue essential oil that is a master of pain relief!), Palmarosa (excellent for easing swelling and supporting skin), and Lemon (another strong anti-inflammatory and cooling oil).   By adding Copiaba (copaifera reticulata) which is also known as a magnifier meaning it intensifies the other essential oils benefits. Plus, is also known for its inflammation fighting properties and pain relieving wonders in its own right . Aloe gel is the perfect carrier, helping this blend absorb quickly. It won’t get all over clothes or linens, so you can use this blend at night, too.

I hope you get lots of use from this recipe.  Take it with you when you go to get your next massage or reflexology appointment!
